About the Director
Marie Cole, BS, MT (ASCP), has been an active participant in children's education for many years. Even while obtaining her Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology from the University of Texas at Austin, Marie found time to volunteer at a local elementary school as a math tutor. One of Marie's greatest passions is helping children to reach their full potential. She served several years at her church in their Vacation Bible School program, in roles as varied as Music Leader, 4th Grade Lead Teacher, and Kindergarten Lead Teacher. Since 2001, Marie has volunteered to serve as Co-Director of a large homeschool teaching cooperative in the Buda area, coordinating as many as 36 classes with as many as 150 students per semester. In addition, Marie has formed an educational services business, Grace Notes Academy and taught private piano lessons for several years. Most recently, Grace Notes has partnered with One Day Academy to provide high quality homeschool classes to students in the Hays area.
Blessed with two children, Marie actively participates in their education via homeschooling. Marie's husband, Scott, is a senior designer for an area engineering firm and serves as deacon at their church. Marie also has served as church pianist for over a decade and has been an active member of numerous choirs since the 5th grade.
Additional teaching experience includes conducting adult classes in freezer cooking through both the University of Texas Extension Classes and Austin Community College's Community Classes. Marie is co-founder of Freezer Pleasers, which has given numerous seminars in freezer cooking. Marie has spoken at a number of women's group sand was a featured speaker at the local CHEACT homeschool book fair. Early in her career, Marie was responsible for teaching medical technology students in hematology and lectured in coagulation at the university level.
Currently, Marie is employed on a part-time basis as a registered medical technologist in the laboratory at a local community hospital. She enjoys using her scientific skills to help doctors and nurses save lives and treat the sick. In her spare time, Marie relaxes through scrapbooking, sewing, doing cross-stitch and reading. More favorites include playing the piano, listening to her daughters play the piano and violin, and watching her daughters win soccer games. |
