Science Courses
General Science
General Science is the first course in the middle school science series to be offered by Grace Notes Academy. Highlights of the year will include making a model of DNA, using a microscope to view bacteria, and measuring lung capacity. In addition to exciting experiments, we will play fun review games, watch interesting movies, and students will supplement their learning with occasional webquests. Topics covered will include the following:
The text we will use is the popular Apologia text General Science, 2nd ed.. It is colorful and interesting as well as being academically challenging. Apologia books are written from a strong Christian point of view and a creationist standpoint. Each student will need to purchase their own textbook and Solution Manual. There is also an Audio Book MP3 CD which is optional, but not required. These are readily available from homeschool online stores, such as Rainbow Resources (www.rainbowresource.com).

**Note: We are using Apologia as our "spine" text. This means that it will form the large part of the students' reading, but I will also supplement with class handouts when we need to delve more deeply into a subject than the Apologia text does. This course is taught from a Christian, creationist viewpoint.
