Science 3/4 (Science B)

Science 3/4 (Science B) is the second course in the elementary science series to be offered by Grace Notes Academy.  Science A is not a prerequisite for Science B.  Highlights of the year will include designing electrical circuits, learning about lasers, and making a model of the surface of the moon.  Throughout the year, students will participate in engaging, interesting and downright fun activities and experiments designed to help kids discover for themselves some of the amazing facets of the world in which we live.  Topics covered will include the following:

• The Moon
• Electricity
• Magnetism
• Simple Machines
• Water and Oceans
• The Digestive System
• Bones and Muscles
• Ecosystems
• Plants
• Weathering and Erosion
• Natural Resources
• Insects

The text we will use is Bob Jones Science 4, third edition.  It is colorful and interesting as well as being academically challenging.  Bob Jones books are written from a strong Christian point of view and a creationist standpoint.  Each student will need to purchase their own textbook, Student Activity Manual, and Test Packet.  Parents will be grading the Activity Manual pages and the tests, so the answer solutions to these are helpful to have as well.  These are readily available from homeschool online stores, such as Rainbow Resources (www.rainbowresource.com).

   

**Note:  We are using Bob Jones as our "spine" text.  This means that it will form the large part of the students' reading, but I will also supplement with class handouts when we need to delve more deeply into a subject than the Bob Jones text does.
