Private Piano Lessons
All lessons will be held at the home of Marie Cole, centrally located off of I-35 in Buda, Texas, convenient to San Marcos, Kyle, Wimberley, Driftwood, Manchaca, and South Austin. Marie Cole incorporates not merely learning the notes, but also the artistry required to make beautiful music from the very first class.
For piano students, Mrs. Cole emphasizes proper form and posture, as well as phrasing, dynamics, and articulation. Beginning students may expect to take one thirty-minute lesson each week, and practice about five to fifteen minutes each day, depending on the student's level. More advanced students benefit from longer lessons, which are prorated, and will be expected to practice approximately thirty minutes each day. Repertoire ranges from all four periods of classical music as well as jazz, Christian hymns and praise songs, and blues.
At this time, I am not accepting new students.
STUDIO POLICIES
REGISTRATION FORM
RECITALS
Once in November and once in late April or early May, Grace Notes will host a piano recital. This will be a formal, Sunday-best affair! Every child will have a chance to play their recital piece in front of friends, family and the community. After all, sharing music with others is a vital part of learning an instrument or learning to sing. Recital pieces are chosen from a host of musical genres, encompassing medieval music through contemporary Christian music and even an occasional Scott Joplin-inspired rag.
NURSING HOME CONCERTS
Occasionally throughout the year, we arrange to have the students give a mini-concert at a local nursing home or other facility. This helps students with nervousness about performing as well as providing some joy to area residents.
REGISTRATION
Grace Notes is not currently accepting registrations for new students. All students must schedule an introductory interview with Mrs. Cole. This is NOT an audition, but is a chance for Mrs. Cole to gauge the ability level of the student, explain studio policies to students and parents, and answer any questions that you might have. It is also a chance for parents and students to meet Mrs. Cole before that first lesson and make sure that she understands your goals regarding music. These introductory interviews are free of charge to all interested students, with no strings attached. It is a chance for you to make sure that you think your child and Mrs. Cole will interact well together, as well as a chance for Mrs. Cole to make sure she can meet your needs.
Our tuition ($17.50 per 30-minute private lesson -- prorated over the school year to $60 per month) is very reasonable and well below the average rate in the Hays area of $80 to $100 per month for a weekly half-hour lesson. Tuition is prorated throughout the year so that you pay the same amount each month, regardless of the number of lessons per month. Prorated tuition for 2009/2010, with $5 per month sibling discounts available.
